Is your embroidery machine computerized?  Does it have a USB port?  Does it take cartridges or embroidery machine cards?  If your machine has a USB port you can buy downloadable files you can load on a flash drive and bypass the need for the manufacturer’s own embroidery machine cards.  There are a number of Disney embroidery machine cards available from www.icanhelpsew.com from Cars, 101 Dalmatians, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Disney Film Stars, Monsters, Inc., Toy story 2 and Finding Nemo.

These machine embroidery cards run $94.99 a nice discount of the list price of $149.  These Disney licensed designs are available in a 4 x 4 format.  You can choose from twenty two patterns including Woody, Buzz, Rex, Hammy, The Prospector, Jessie, Bullseye and more.  Finding Nemo has thirty designs in their package for the same $94.99.

Almost all designs you can buy outside of your machine’s own website have to be converted in some way to fit the format of your machine.  Some sites like www.sulky.com send you your files via floppy disk or CDs that require a software program to convert them into a form that works on your machine.  If you do not have the necessary software for conversion, make sure you ask your sewing machine dealer if he can convert the files for you.

www.sewvacdirect.com has all of the Brother embroidery machine cards for sale.  They split the cards into collections of ten for easier categorization.  For example, cards 0-10 are mostly alphabets; 11-20 are mostly pets, 21-30 deal with animals, Christmas and flowers.  Each card from Brother contains a multitude of designs and they range in price from $69.99 to $99.99.

Other makers of embroidery machines, like Singer, Tajima and Janome let you know that the best machine embroidery cards come from the parent company.  It is interesting to note that the more expensive the machine, the less likely you are to use it for recreational pursuits.  Your best bet is to find a refurbished model that you can find the cards for that will help you get your job done.

The Singer CE-350 Quantum Futura was available refurbished for $849 from an original new price of $2900.  Singer has the most extensive library of embroidery machine cards and will have any kind of design you are looking to make. Singer has been making sewing machines since 1981 and continues to innovate with more PC options and flexibility on their computerized embroidery machines.
